| The Switch: Jennifer Aniston proves to be her own best friend |

This has predictably brought Aniston into conflict with America’s political Right, which sees fatherless children as a social problem, and deplores Hollywood films that make role-models out of women who opt for ‘irresponsible’ single-motherhood. But go and see the film, and you’ll find that it is about something else entirely. The Switch is really about Kassie’s best friend, a repressed neurotic called Wally (played with marvellous delicacy by Jason Bateman), who drunkenly switches her donor’s sperm sample for his own. He blocks out the memory until nearly seven years later, when she returns to New York with a boy (adorably played by Thomas Robinson) whose angst, pessimism Aniston has wasted herself on some pretty thankless roles recently, but she is exactly right for this movie. She has warmth and can convey inner thought processes, for a start, and she knows when not to dominate a scene. It’s interesting to compare and contrast her with Jennifer Lopez, who played a similar role, with far less charm and humour, in The Back-Up Plan. In the second and better half of the movie, Aniston unselfishly takes a back seat to the burgeoning relationship between Wally and her son. For this film, which pretends to be a liberal movie championing feminist self-empowerment and the woman’s right to choose, turns out instead to be a much more conservative piece about why children – male children, especially – need to have masculine role-models and sympathetic ears, preferably fatherly ones. The Switch is at its best in the touching and unusual scenes: one, when Wally takes his son to the zoo and another, when he de-louses his hair. These moments — which may not sound like much but are reminiscent of the best bits in Kramer Vs Kramer — are the reasons to see the movie. The directors, Josh Gordon and Will Speck, don’t go for the broad humour of their first picture, the underrated Blades Of Glory. Jeff Goldblum gets most of the big laughs as Wally’s best friend, gradually grasping the horror of what his pal has done. ‘Oooh,’ he grimaces on hearing of the switch, ‘that’s … ill-advised.’ The Switch might have been funnier, and it doesn’t entirely convince in its characterisations, but it achieves its unpretentious objective of being an amiable heart-warmer, and that is enough to put it way ahead of most Hollywood comedies this year. The friends actress stars as a 40-year-old single woman who opts for sperm donation to become pregnant. However, seven years later, she finds out her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman) replaced her preferred sperm sample with his own. “I’ve never laughed harder. We actually had a hard time rapping our heads around, like, how could this possibly happen? It’s so insane,” Jennifer said. “That’s why we loved it. It’s such a unique story. It’s sort of the modern family,” she added. Jennifer, 41, also spoke very highly about her co-star and old friend Jason Bateman: “He’s sweet as can be and he’s fun and a commited actor. I’ve know Jason for a long time and he’s been down some roads and he’s just better than ever.” The Switch is out in cinemas now. Source: ITN

Another quote he says was taken out of context from his show last weekend, explaining that it was actually a reference to the song Half of My Heart and not a veiled comment about a rekindling of his romance with Aniston. “Two sentences about different things,” Mayer said. “[Jennifer's] going to play Courteney’s shrink named Bonnie,” says “Cougar Town” executive producer Bill Lawrence. “Kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist. Those guys are so close in real life they kind of do that for each other anyway. Bonnie has the life Jules wishes she has.” Am I the only one envisioning midday therapy sessions over a bottle (or two or three) of Merlot? If you caught Jennifer’s zany appearance on “30 Rock” back in 2008, you know the actress has a gift for jumping in mid-stream and providing some serious yucks. (She didn’t nab an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for nothin’.) She and Courteney have had 16 years’ time (and a hit series) to hone their chemistry, so it’s likely she’ll trump even her “30 Rock” appearance. (Is that another Emmy nomination we smell?) For now, Jen’s character is slated for just one episode, but Bill says he left the story open for a potential role reprisal. “We’re very intentionally implying that it’s a therapist Courteney has been using for a while, and we’re certainly not going to make it like they’ll never see each other again,” he says. “So I’m crossing my fingers that if she has a good time it’ll happen again.” May we suggest a group therapy session with Jules, Bonnie and Dr. Amy Evans (Lisa Kudrow’s temperamental dermatologist character from last season)? Are you excited to see Jen on “Cougar Town”? Which “Friends” costar would you like to see on the show next? Source: MTV.com

The Friends star had to file a restraining order against Jason Peyton alleging that he embarked on an “aggressive pattern of harassment”, reported Los Angeles Times. “Mr Peyton has aggressively sought to have personal contact with me and integrate himself into my life…His ongoing, ever-increasing, aggressive and harassing conduct are extremely distressing. I fear for my personal safety and that of those around me,” the actress stated in a signed court declaration. The 41-year-old filed the restraining order against Peyton after he drove across the US on a mission to track her down in Los Angeles. Court documents claim that cops found the 24-year-old sitting in his car on July 15 this year, waiting for the actress with a sharp tool and a roll of duct tape. “Mr Peyton had, among other things, a sharp object, a bag, a roll of duct tape, a variety of DVDs of movies in which Aniston appears, and a notebook and various scraps of loose paper on which he wrote a variety of messages to Aniston,” the legal papers reveal. He had even scratched I love Jennifer Aniston down the side and along the bonnet of his car and was carrying a list of potential baby names for the children he intended to father with Aniston. Peyton, who was arrested and placed on a psychiatric hold, is obsessed with Aniston. Police caught up with him after he left a note for his father on June 25 in Pennsylvania, stating he was going to California. His father realised he was going to find Aniston and alerted the police. According to the court papers, he has attempted suicide four times and has physically battered and attacked his own mother on numerous occasions. He also allegedly stalked and harassed a female neighbour who he is believed to have planned to abduct, resulting in “multiple police holds and mental evaluations and ultimately several arrests”. Of the new scent, Jen noted that she was going for a very specific effect, setting her fragrance apart from its peers. Ms. Aniston explained, “I am not a big perfume-y fragrance fan.
